A statement from the OPC General Assembly on matters of race
On June 8, 2026, the 92nd General Assembly of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church joined several of our sister denominations in publicly affirming its commitment to:
Condemn without distinction any theological or political teaching which posits a superiority of race or ethnic identity born of immutable human characteristics and call to repentance any who would promote or associate themselves with such teaching, either by commission or omission.
Here at Trinity Church we gladly affirm this clear and necessary statement. No race, nation, tribe, or people possesses an inherent superiority over another; all human beings bear the image of God, and the gospel gathers people from every nation, tribe, people, and language into one redeemed family in Christ.
The Assembly also established a study committee to examine all forms of racial prejudice and related matters. The committee will help the church think carefully and biblically about these questions and will present its findings and recommendations to the 93rd (2027) General Assembly. Please pray for them as they undertake this important work for the peace, purity, and unity of Christ’s church.
