Becoming a Welcoming Church

Throughout February and the first week of March the adult Sunday school class will explore our Mission Month topic, "Becoming a Welcoming Church." Each church household will receive of copy of Thom Rainer's engaging and accessible book by the same title. Together we will study the topic and explore ways that we can grow in extending Christ's love to our guests.

We will kick off the month of Sunday school (February 2) with a not-to-be-missed panel interview of some of our newer members here at Trinity, hearing their stories of coming to Trinity, and considering what it was like for them as they sought to integrate into the life of Trinity. For those of us who have been around Trinity since Noah stepped off the ark, this will help us step inside the experience of a guest and remember again what it is like to step foot in a church for the first time.

The following weeks will work through key topics from Rainer's book, exploring and expanding his insights. Finally, in the first week of March and with Mission Month behind us, we will ask what it looks like practically to move forward. That class will be a collective brainstorming session gathering together the threads of the month and asking about practical takeaways for our life together. Write down your ideas and ruminations throughout the month, and bring them to this final session!

Classes meet February 2, 9, 16, 23 and March 1.
